Fifty years is a long time and to be involved with one organization – the Glens Falls Community Theatre - for 50 years shows passion and dedication.
And, that’s exactly what I see in Mary Corcoran, Catherine Gericke and Carol Cornell, (pictured above from left to right) three active club members who were involved in the club’s 1964 production of “The Music Man.”
Catherine played Mrs. Paroo, Mary created the program and Carol ushered. It was Carol’s first involvement with the GFCT and she remembers the show being performed to a standing room only audience at the Glens Falls High School. Carol added that her husband, Don, was in the Barbershop Quartet of “The Music Man.”
Other GFCT members who were in the cast in the ’64 show include Doris Seipel, Jane Otoupal and Brian DeMell. Mary Lou Noone and Dave Otoupal were part of the crew.
Just found out that Music Man's Mayor Shinn aka Mark Griffin was also in the 1964 production. Mark said, "Jon "Van" asked me to run the follow spot for that show. I brought Stan on twice and lighted Don and Beverly on the foot bridge. The club was very welcoming to this 17-year-old kid."
Congratulations to the Glens Falls Community Theatre for maintaining such long-time members.
